11 arrested in Limassol raid targeting illegal workers

Joint operation targets illegal labor, unpaid fines, and unregistered businesses in city center.

Eleven people were arrested Sunday during a coordinated police operation in central Limassol aimed at cracking down on illegal employment and other violations, authorities said.

The operation, carried out between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. by the Limassol District Police Division and the Aliens and Immigration Service, included inspections of 11 businesses.

Police said the inspections uncovered three cases of illegal employment and four instances of businesses operating without the proper licenses. One person was arrested for residing illegally in the Republic of Cyprus.

Three individuals with outstanding fines were also arrested but released after paying their debts.

In addition, one person was cited for traffic violations, and their vehicle was impounded.

Police said a total of 11 individuals were arrested during the operation.
