Twenty-one people were rescued safely on Monday morning after a rowing boat overturned in the sea off Dasoudi in Limassol.
The incident triggered a search and rescue operation after the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) received information at 11:15 that the vessel had capsized. The National Search and Rescue Plan “NEARCHOS” was subsequently activated.
A large-scale response was launched, involving helicopters from the Police Air Operations Unit and the National Guard’s 460 Search and Rescue Squadron. Vessels from the Port and Marine Police also took part, along with a lifeguard boat from the Limassol District Administration.
Police personnel from the Limassol Police Directorate and ambulances from the State Health Services Organisation (OKYPY) were also dispatched to the scene.
All 21 people were brought ashore safely. Ambulance paramedics examined them and confirmed that they were in good health, after which they were released.
