Anastasiades: 'Relations between the US and Cyprus are at their best'

Relations between Cyprus and the US are at their best, said President Anastasiades during a meeting with AHEPA (American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association) which was held on Friday at the Presidential Palace.

During the meeting, President Anastasiades thanked the delegation for its contribution to the deepening of the strategic partnership between the two countries and briefed them on the Cyprus issue, his proposal about the CBMs (Confidence Building Measures), and the necessity to resolve the issue on the basis of international law, the Security Council resolutions and the European acquis.

He also spoke about the illegal Turkish actions in the Cyprus EEZ and Famagusta and discussed the Ukrainian issue, stressing the need for international law to prevail.

President Anastasiades also informed the delegation about the developments in the field of energy and bilateral relations between Cyprus and the USA, which "are perhaps at their best since the establishment of the Republic of Cyprus", he stated. He also stressed the importance of the trilateral partnerships that Cyprus and Greece have established with neighboring countries in order to achieve peace, security, stability and prosperity in the Eastern Mediterranean.

President Anastasiades thanked the delegation for supporting Cyprus, especially with regard to "promoting our national positions at decision-making centers abroad".
