A 28-year-old motorcyclist, Artem Fomichov, died late Friday night after suffering severe injuries in a traffic collision earlier that day on the old Dromolaxia–Larnaca road.

Fomichov, originally from Ukraine and living permanently in Cyprus, was critically hurt on Friday morning when his high-powered motorcycle struck the side of a trailer being pulled by an articulated truck. The crash occurred on Alkyonidon Street in the Aradippou area, as the truck was moving in the same direction and attempting a lawful right turn onto the main road.

Emergency responders arrived quickly, and the rider was taken by ambulance to Larnaca General Hospital. Doctors performed surgery to address multiple internal injuries, but despite their efforts, his condition remained extremely serious. He was later transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 11:30 p.m.

Police reported extensive damage to the motorcycle. A helmet was located at the scene, though investigators have not yet confirmed whether the victim had been wearing it at the time of the crash.

The 67-year-old truck driver, a resident of a Larnaca district village, was unharmed. The investigation into the circumstances of the collision is ongoing.
