Meanwhile, if you were in Paphos yesterday at 3:00 PM dealing with that suffocating 80% relative humidity, you’ll be relieved to know things are shifting.
Here is how today shapes up
The sky is staying predictably clear, but the real story is the wind.
Inland: Topping out at 38°C. A slight dip from yesterday, but still the designated hot zone.
The coastlines: The west coast wins the lottery again with a comfortable 30°C, while the rest of the coastal perimeters settle at 32°C.
The mountains: Prodromos enjoyed a crisp low of 18°C yesterday, and today the high peaks will keep things highly respectable with a maximum of 28°C.
The wind element: Winds will start off reasonably calm from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort. However, pack away the loose papers by midday. The breeze is scheduled to ramp up to a punchy 4 to 5 Beaufort, before escalating to a locally very strong 6 Beaufort on some coasts. The sea will react accordingly, turning from smooth to noticeably choppy by late afternoon.
Tonight: The wind dies, the humidity tries
Once the sun sets, the atmospheric drama cools down. Clear skies remain the default setting. Those aggressive daytime winds will ease back down to a relaxed 3 to 4 Beaufort, allowing the sea to smooth itself back out.
