Press Release
For the 12th consecutive year, the Gastronomos Quality Awards celebrated the people who rarely stand in the spotlight but whose work deserves recognition and applause.
Each year, the awards honor Cypriot producers, food artisans, and small and medium-sized businesses in the agri-food sector that stand out for their integrity, craftsmanship, and commitment to quality. Drawing on knowledge, experience, and dedication, they transform local raw ingredients into exceptional products made with hard work, passion, and a modern professional approach.
They are the people preserving Cyprus’ culinary heritage and keeping the island’s gastronomic traditions alive through authentic, high-quality products. They are the people who shine a light on the true Cyprus.
The 2026 Gastronomos Quality Awards were presented during the magazine’s inaugural Gastronomos Festival, held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, in the village of Vouni, Limassol. The open-air celebration brought the world of Gastronomos to life through food, tradition, and local culture.
The choice of Vouni as the venue was a deliberate gesture of support for the mountain communities of Limassol that were devastated by last July’s destructive wildfire. It also sent a message of solidarity, renewal, and optimism to communities across Cyprus.
The Gastronomos Festival was dedicated to the Cypriot countryside, local producers, small vendors, and the communities affected by last year's wildfires. Visitors had the opportunity to meet the people behind the products, sample authentic Cypriot cuisine, and directly support local businesses, small-scale producers, and their products.
One of the evening's most moving moments was the presentation of the honorary award to the community leaders of 12 villages affected by last year's wildfire, in recognition of their contribution to the enormous effort to contain the blaze.
With selflessness and determination, they stood alongside their communities, helping protect lives and limit damage during one of the most challenging natural disasters the region has faced.
