CBC: Deposits and loans decreased in January

Total deposits were at €583.8 million compared to €586.3 million in December 2022

Deposits and loans recorded a net decrease this January, according to data published by the Central Bank of Cyprus on Tuesday.

Total deposits in January 2023 recorded a net decrease of €583.8 million, compared with a net increase of €586.3 million in December 2022. The annual growth rate stood at -0.1%, compared with 0.4% in December 2022. The outstanding amount of deposits reached €51.5 billion in January 2023.

Total loans in January 2023 recorded a net decrease of €93.2 million, compared with a net increase of €92.1 million in December 2022. The annual growth rate stood at -0.9%, compared with -0.2% in December 2022. The outstanding amount of total loans reached €26 billion in January 2023.
