Cops seek public's help in Ledra clash

Nicosia police publish screenshots of persons of interest in downtown riot last Saturday night

Newsroom

Nicosia police are asking the public for help in identifying young men who appear in a video in connection with a downtown brawl last weekend.

An online video posted in local media showed a violent altercation between young males on Ledras Street, which took place on Saturday night, July 16, around 10:30pm.

No information was provided regarding the incident and no arrests were made, while local media reported that three police officers, two males and one female, arrived at the scene five minutes later.

But on Wednesday, police published screenshots from video footage, asking members of the public to help identify persons of interest from the images.

The photos were also published by Cyprus Police on Facebook but there were limits on who would be able to comment, with authorities requesting that members of the public with any helpful information to contact Nicosia police by calling 22.802.380 or 22.802.370, dialing the 1460 citizens hotline, or contacting the nearest local station.
