Consultations on an initiative to create a humanitarian maritime corridor continue both in Nicosia and through the Foreign Minister's ongoing contacts with countries in the region.
According to a statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Republic of Cyprus has been developing for days an initiative to establish a controlled and sustainable humanitarian sea corridor to provide unimpeded and safe humanitarian assistance to Gaza. The initiative was announced by the President of the Republic, Nikos Christodoulides, on the sidelines of the recent European Council.
It is added that several contacts have already taken place with concerned states in the region and the EU at the highest level, as well as with other stakeholders and international organisations.
It is noted that the initiative’s parameters and its evolving design have received a positive response and have been taken to the next stage, while consultations on this matter continue both in Nicosia and through the Foreign Minister's ongoing contacts with countries in the region.
