Cyprus records four Covid-19 deaths, 349 cases

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 123 coronavirus patients, of which 16 are in critical condition

The health ministry announced four coronavirus deaths and 349 cases on Monday, raising the Republic’s coronavirus death toll to 82 and total cases to 15,450.

Monday’s coronavirus cases involved three patients that were being treated at the Famagusta general hospital, a woman aged 85, an 86-year-old woman, and a 96-year-old man, as well as an 89-year-old woman who was a patient at the Limassol general hospital.

The deaths raised total coronavirus fatalities to 82, involving 52 men (63%) and 30 women (37%), of an average age of 78.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 123 coronavirus patients, of which 16 are in critical condition.

67 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, four of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 25 patients, 12 of which are in the ICU where 10 are intubated. 28 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital, while three more are at the Makario hospital in Nicosia.

Meanwhile, among the 349 new cases were 142 confirmations of people who had tested positive to a rapid test. The new cases emerged after 9,951 tests were conducted, of which 3,117 were PCR tests and 6,834 were rapid antigen tests.

The PCR tests detected 119 contacts, four arrivals to Cyprus airports, 50 people who took the initiative to get tested, 31 people who got tested at general hospitals, two people who were tested either as part of special health groups or upon the referral of their GP, and one through the program targeting nursing homes.
