A delivery driver in Nicosia was attacked and robbed on Monday while attempting to deliver food after curfew to an Aglandjia address near the buffer zone.
According to police, a 33-year-old driver filed a complaint saying he took a food order to Aglandjia, east Nicosia, on Monday night, when an unknown man attacked him.
The victim reached his delivery destination on his motorcycle with the attack taking place during the attempt to deliver the food order
The incident took place on Elpinikis Street around 9:30pm, with the foreign national saying he was delivering food at a residence when the perpetrator assaulted him, striking him on various parts of the body and grabbing money out of his pocket.
Police told Knews the alleged victim had reached his delivery destination on his motorcycle and the attack took place during the attempt to deliver the order. But it was not specified whether the incident took place before or after knocking on the door, with reports saying the suspect immediately fled the scene.
An official report described the suspect as a tall male, around 1.80m (6 feet) with a strong build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants at the time of the incident, while his face was covered with a red cloth.
The delivery driver went to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital where he was treated for injuries before being released.
