An unstable air mass coupled with a weak low pressure system has prompted weather officials to issue a yellow warning for Cyprus on Saturday.
Cloudy and partly cloudy skies are expected throughout Saturday with a flood warning in effect from 12 noon through the late afternoon at 6pm.
Mixed weather is expected over the next few days, with temperatures rising Sunday, dropping Monday, and going back up Tuesday
According to the weather alert, isolated heavy thunderstorms in the daytime accompanied by hail will very likely affect areas in the interior of the island, in the mountains, as well as along the eastern and southeastern coastline.
During severe thunderstorms, hail and very strong winds are also likely. Precipitation may exceed 35 millimeters per hour, with high chances of rapid flooding in certain areas.
Poor conditions are expected to clear out in most parts of the island by evening but low clouds will stay in the picture in the north and out west, along with foggy conditions over leeward locations.
Temperature highs will reach 21 degrees Celsius in the interior as well as coastal regions and 12 high up in the mountains, while lows will drop to 11 inland as well as in the east and south, around 14 out west, 12 in the north, and 4 high up in the mountains.
Mixed weather is expected over the rest of the weekend and early next week, as temperatures fluctuate with a rise on Sunday, a slight drop on Monday, with levels going slightly back up again on Tuesday.
