Press Release
The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit, the largest sustainability conference in Cyprus, returns to Nicosia on June 4, 2026 under the theme “Transition as a responsibility (not a trend),” bringing together leading voices from the worlds of sustainability and innovation.
Among this year’s speakers are Demetris Palaiogiannis, founder of the non-profit organization Eudaimonia Tourism and creator of Zorbabook – “Responsible Explorer,” and Anita Zachou, Agricultural Engineer, certified olive oil taster from Jaen University, Production & Quality Consultant, Brand Architect, and founder of Mykonos Olive Oil Tasting.
At the Green Agenda Cyprus Summit, Demetris Palaiogiannis and Anita Zachou will explore how tourism is changing and what that means for local businesses. Palaiogiannis will focus on the rise of “new tourism,” where visitors are no longer simply looking for sun and sea, but for meaningful and sustainable experiences that connect them with local communities and culture. He will argue that businesses embracing sustainability are not just doing something positive — they are also building stronger and more competitive models for the future.
Anita Zachou will bring this idea to life through an example from Mykonos, where she has created a successful olive oil tasting experience in a place without olive groves or olive oil production. Her presentation will show how creativity, storytelling, and sustainability can transform even unconventional ideas into thriving tourism businesses that also respect the environment and the values of the local community.
The Green Agenda Cyprus Summit is presented by Altia.
