Enclaved voters will be able to vote at two designated polling locations in Nicosia and Acheritou during the upcoming elections, according to Presidential Commissioner Marios Hartsiotis in comments to the Cyprus News Agency.
Hartsiotis explained that enclaved residents from Kormakitis and Karpasha in the Kyrenia district will vote at polling station T at Kykkos A’ High School in Nicosia. Voters from the Karpasia area, including Agios Andronikos, Rizokarpaso, and Agia Triada, will cast their ballots at polling station A at Acheritou Primary School in the Famagusta district, where those communities are administratively registered.
A separate ballot box will also be available at polling station C at Kykkos A’ High School for members of the Maronite religious group choosing their community representative. This arrangement applies mainly to Maronite voters living in Kormakiti and Karpasia.
Hartsiotis said enclaved voters traveling from those communities will be able to vote for parliamentary candidates and parties at one polling station, while also voting for their Maronite representative at another station within the same school.
Transportation has already been organized through local community councils, with buses set to operate from both the Kormakitis and Karpasha areas. One route will run during the morning voting period, while another will operate after polling resumes in the afternoon. Similar transport plans are being arranged for residents in Karpasia.
The Commissioner also explained that enclaved voters who are already staying in the government-controlled areas before election day will be able to contact his office for assistance. Officials, working together with the Electoral Service, will issue authorization allowing those voters to cast ballots at polling stations near their temporary location.
As an example, Hartsiotis said someone staying in Limassol from Saturday onward could contact the office on Sunday and receive instructions on where to vote in the city.
He added that there is still no precise estimate for how many enclaved voters are expected to participate, since interest may depend partly on the available transportation routes. Hartsiotis said authorities expect to have a clearer picture closer to election day.
