Exploding walkie-talkies have injured at least 100 people across Lebanon, the country's health ministry reported Wednesday. The blasts, which occurred just one day after similar explosions involving pagers, have resulted in at least three confirmed deaths.
The latest incidents come as Lebanon continues to grapple with the aftermath of explosions that killed 12 people, including two children, and injured thousands the previous day. The explosions, which targeted communication devices used by Hezbollah, have heightened tensions in the region.
Sources suggest that the Israeli spy agency Mossad may be behind the attacks, aiming at Hezbollah fighters. However, Israel has declined to comment on the allegations.
In response to security concerns, Hezbollah had banned mobile phones earlier this year, opting instead for pagers, which they believed were harder to track. The group's reliance on pagers has now resulted in devastating consequences, as these devices have become the latest targets of the ongoing conflict.
Authorities are investigating the cause and perpetrators of the explosions, as Lebanon faces escalating violence amid its ongoing internal and regional conflicts.
