A forest fire broke out early Monday afternoon near the community of Sina Oros, close to the main Nicosia–Troodos road, after sparks from a handheld metal-cutting tool ignited dry vegetation.
According to the Department of Forests, the blaze started at 12:55 and was fully contained by 13:10. In that short span, it scorched approximately three decares (3,000 square meters) of dry grass and low wild vegetation.
A total of 33 firefighters were involved in the effort, 30 from the Department of Forests with six fire engines, and three from the Fire Service with one engine, ensuring a rapid and coordinated response.
