Cyprus welcomed 418,730 tourists in April 2025, a 25.5% increase from the 333,563 arrivals recorded in April 2024, according to figures released Monday by the Statistical Service.
The United Kingdom remained the island’s largest source of tourism, contributing 36.3% of total arrivals, or 151,883 visitors. Israel followed with 15.2% (63,474), while Germany accounted for 7.1% (29,613), Poland 6.9% (29,009), and Greece 3.9% (16,354).
Most visitors came for holidays, representing 80.3% of arrivals. Another 12.7% traveled to visit friends or relatives, while 6.9% cited business reasons. In April 2024, 82.1% of tourists came for holidays, 9.4% to visit family or friends, and 8.3% for business.
Tourist arrivals for the January–April 2025 period totaled 865,326, up 15.6% from 748,814 during the same four-month stretch in 2024.
Outbound Travel by Cypriots Also on the Rise
Outbound travel by Cypriot residents also saw a sharp increase in April 2025, with 164,844 trips abroad — up 24.1% from 132,806 the previous year.
Greece was the top destination for returning residents, making up 33.3% of the total (54,967). The U.K. followed at 8.6% (14,111), and Italy at 6.5% (10,735).
Leisure travel led the way, with 70.9% of Cypriot residents traveling for holidays. Business trips accounted for 17.5%, study-related travel 10.8%, and other reasons 0.8%.
