Lufthansa Group and easyJet resume routes as flights return to normal.

Air travel to and from Cyprus is gradually returning to normal following several days of disruptions caused by developments in the Middle East. Authorities and airport operators have confirmed that major European airlines that had temporarily suspended flights are now preparing to resume their scheduled operations.

According to an announcement by Hermes Airports, passengers had previously been warned that several flights were affected due to the regional situation, and were advised to contact their airlines or travel agents for updates regarding their flight status.

However, the situation is now stabilising.

Knews sources confirmed that Lufthansa Group airlines will resume operations at Cyprus airports starting Saturday, March 7, restoring important connections between Cyprus and key European destinations. The Lufthansa Group airlines include Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Eurowings and Edelweiss Air, which operate routes connecting Cyprus with major destinations in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The resumption of these services is expected to restore important links between Cyprus and central Europe, following several days of disruption to air travel.

In parallel, low-cost carrier easyJet has already begun restarting several of its routes to and from Cyprus over the past few days. From Larnaka Airport, flights to London Gatwick and Berlin resumed on March 5, while the Basel route is scheduled to return on March 7. From Pafos Airport, flights to London Gatwick resumed on March 5, Manchester on March 6, with Bristol and Edinburgh services expected to restart on March 7.

Additional easyJet routes, including connections to Paris, Amsterdam and Liverpool, are scheduled to resume in the coming week.

The gradual restoration of these routes is expected to reassure passengers and tourism stakeholders, as it signals a return to stability in Cyprus’ air transport network after the recent uncertainty.

Passengers are still encouraged to check with their airlines for the latest flight information, but authorities note that the situation at Cyprus airports is steadily improving, with more airlines expected to follow in the coming days.
