The 2025 Green Agenda Cyprus Summit will take place on May 19, 2025, at the Hilton Nicosia, bringing together key leaders, policymakers, and industry experts in support of Cyprus' bold national vision for a greener future.
Held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus and presented by Kathimerini, this year’s conference focuses on advancing the country’s Green Transition and establishing Cyprus as a model for sustainability, innovation, and environmental responsibility.
Driving the energy conversation
Keynote speaker Giorgos Papanastasiou, Cyprus’ Minister of Energy, Commerce and Industry, will headline the event with a talk on “Cheap and Sustainable Energy in Cyprus: The Roadmap.” With over two decades of experience in the energy sector, including senior leadership roles at BP and VTT Vasiliko Ltd, Minister Papanastasiou brings a wealth of knowledge to Cyprus’ clean energy transition strategy.
Panel highlights
The energy discussion continues with expert Phanos Karantonis, President of the Cyprus Renewable Energy Enterprises Association and a recognized authority in renewable infrastructure. Karantonis will moderate a panel exploring the roadmap for affordable and sustainable energy solutions in Cyprus.
A second major panel, “Electrification: How to Remove the Bumps,” will be moderated by Michalis Sofocleous, a former MP and seasoned strategist who served as Director of the Presidential Office. The session will tackle the practical and policy challenges involved in expanding electrification and modernizing infrastructure.
