Health Ministry announces 302 cases

The Health Ministry on Thursday announced 302 coronavirus cases on Monday, marking a steady increase in the number of daily cases, though the number of tests being performed over the past few days has also increased significantly.

Total coronavirus cases reached 35,009. No coronavirus fatalities were recorded, with the death toll remaining steady at 231.

The new cases emerged after 38,001 tests were conducted. 88 were contacts, four were airport arrivals, 10 were people who took the initiative to get tested, four were tested at a general hospital, three were tested either at the referral of their GP or as part of special health grous, while six were tested via rapid test at private labs.

Among new cases, 187 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test. A majority of 112 were detected in Limassol after 9,697 tests were conducted, followed by Nicosia were 35 people tested positive after 13,155 tests, while 21 tested positive in Larnaca where 4,929 tests were conducted. 12 more tested positive in Famagusta where 1,665 tests were conducted, while three more tested positive in Paphos where 2,621 tests were conducted. Another person was detected at a Larnaca nursing home, one more at the Strovolos industrial area, while two more who tested positive were members of the National Guard.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 76 coronavirus patients, 24 of which are in critical condition.

24 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, three of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 23 patients, 14 of which are in the ICU. 28 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where two are in the ICU, while one is at the Makario hospital in Nicosia.
