Health ministry announces one death, 286 new cases

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 127 patients, 31 of which are in critical condition

The health ministry announced one coronavirus fatality and 286 new cases on Monday, raising the death toll to 96 and total cases to 18,004.

The coronavirus fatality involved an 89-year-old man who suffered from underlying health conditions.

So far, 62 men (65%) and 34 women (35%) of an average age of 79 have died as a result of their coronavirus infection.

A total of 12,772 tests were conducted on Friday, of which 3,929 were PCR tests and 7,910 were rapid tests.

Among the 289 new cases detected through PCR tests, 156 were people whose infection was confirmed after testing positive to a rapid test.

The remaining 65 were contacts, eight were arrivals to a Cyprus airport, 40 were people who took the initiative to get tested, and 17 were people who got tested at general hospitals.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 127 patients, 31 of which are in critical condition.

70 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, six of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 30 patients, 15 of which are in the ICU. 27 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital.
