Health Ministry announces two deaths, 164 new cases

The new cases emerged after 11,170 tests were conducted

The Health Ministry on Wednesday announced two coronavirus fatalities 164 new cases, raising the death toll to 178 and total cases detected so far to 29,636.

The fatalities involved two men, aged 77 and 84, both of whom suffered from underlying conditions.

The new cases emerged after 11,170 tests were conducted. Of the 164 new cases, 65 involved people who tested positive to a rapid test.

The remaining 56 were contacts, one was an airport arrival, 36 were people who took the initiative to get tested, four were people who got tested at general hospitals, and two were residents of migrant camps.

Cyprus hospitals are currently treating 184 patients, 58 of which are in critical condition.

60 patients are in the Famagusta general hospital, eight of which are in the ICU. The Nicosia general hospital is also treating 71 patients, 37 of which are in the ICU. 53 more coronavirus patients are at the Limassol general hospital where six are in the ICU.
