A bold €380 million development project in the Municipality of Amathus and the nearby Agios Athanasios district is set to transform the area, as revealed by the environmental study recently submitted by the Metropolis of Limassol. Spanning a vast 448,000 square meters, the project promises a mix of residential, commercial, and educational facilities, along with leisure and cultural spaces, making it a major undertaking in the region.

The development plan, designed with a vision for community-building and innovation, includes key features such as a higher education facility, primary and secondary schools, a research centre, and a sports complex. The project will also feature an indoor theatre, event halls, a cultural centre, an amphitheatre, and even a church. A cycle path is also part of the plan, encouraging greener living.

Alongside these essential community services, there will be residential areas, office spaces, commercial buildings, a supermarket, and a Citizen Service Centre. The Metropolis of Limassol aims to create a vibrant hub that stands out for its educational and research offerings.

The development will be carried out in four phases, with the first phase involving the construction of basic infrastructure, including roads, sewage pipelines, and other essential services. Following this, the residential areas, research centre, and church will take shape. The second phase will focus on educational institutions, a supermarket, and commercial spaces, alongside the creation of a linear park. The final phase will see the completion of residential areas, rounding off the ambitious project.

The entire project is set to be completed by April 2029, with plans in place to ease traffic congestion around the Agios Athanasios roundabout. With its mixture of residential, commercial, and cultural offerings, this development is poised to become a key part of the Limassol region, bringing a new level of accessibility and opportunity for residents and businesses alike.
