A 48-year-old Israeli tourist was killed and his wife seriously injured Saturday in a quad bike crash in the coastal resort town of Ayia Napa.
Police said the crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. on Kryou Nerou Street, about 50 meters from the intersection with Kavo Greko Avenue. The victim, identified as Yosef Nunu, was driving the quad bike with his 49-year-old wife as a passenger when he lost control of the vehicle.
The quad bike struck a curb and overturned into a nearby ditch, police said. Nunu sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
His wife was taken by ambulance to Famagusta General Hospital, where doctors said she suffered multiple fractures. Her condition is serious but not life-threatening, authorities said.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Police said the victim’s next of kin have been notified.
