The Larnaca District Organization of Local Government (EOA Larnaca) has processed more than 2,000 complaints, violations, and grievances in under 10 months, with roughly half of them resolved and dozens progressing through the courts, according to President Angelos Chatzicharalambous.
Between July 1, 2024, and April 30, 2025, the Enforcement Division received 2,112 cases. Of these, 1,061, approximately 50%, have been resolved. Chatzicharalambous said 33 new court cases were filed, 18 concluded, and four were withdrawn due to compliance. Another 190 cases remain pending before the courts.
Speaking to reporters Wednesday, Chatzicharalambous underscored the Division’s mission to enforce legislation within the district, manage complaints and violations swiftly, and initiate legal action when necessary to restore legality.
"Every case is reviewed thoroughly and follows a structured process, recording, evidence collection, file review, and legal evaluation," he said.
Many of the cases are complex, involving urban planning, building permits, and technical regulations. Chatzicharalambous emphasized the importance of the Division’s role in maintaining transparency and public trust in local governance.
"The Enforcement Division’s systematic work strengthens legality and enhances the effectiveness of local government," he said.
