Larnaca handyman crushed by water tank

Condition still unknown for man in rural Larnaca after a water tank fell on him during maintenance work

A local handyman in Larnaca was injured during maintenance work when he was crushed by a water storage tank.

According to preliminary reports, the man was in a field in Kato Drys, a rural area of Larnaca district, where he was carrying out repair work on Tuesday afternoon around 2:30pm.

The man, aged 70 according to some media, was working underneath a water storage tank which was placed on a metal frame. At one moment, under circumstances not yet known, the frame collapsed and the man ended up being crushed by the tank.

First responders and rescuers rushed to the scene and were able to free the worker, who was immediately taken to the Emergency Room at Larnaca General Hospital.

No information was immediately available regarding the man’s injuries. Police are investigating the incident.
