A construction worker in Limassol was killed instantly in a horrific scaffolding accident on Thursday, after he fell from a height of over five metres during a paint job.
The worker, identified as 52-year-old Panayiotis Poullis, was working on a factory construction project in Zakaki, Limassol district, where he went with his son.
The fall was not survivable as the worker struck his head directly on a steel beam underneath the makeshift scaffolding
Poullis was said to have been painting while standing on an unsuitable surface without side barriers or fall protection. At one moment, he lost his balance and fell down head first, in front of his son.
The worker was rushed by ambulance to the Emergency Room at Limassol General Hospital where doctors on duty pronounced him dead on arrival.
According to local reports, the fall was not survivable because Poullis struck his head directly on a steel beam underneath the makeshift scaffolding.
