Local shipowners union donates €300,000 worth of food supplies

Cyprus Union of Shipowners joins ''Amalthea'' initiative for Gaza Aid to support humanitarian efforts

Cyprus Union of Shipowners decided to actively participate and contribute to the efforts of the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza through the “Amalthea” Initiative.

The said initiative of the Cypriot Government has garnered worldwide recognition and commendation from the International Community, a press release says.

The Union says that after consultation with the Shipping Deputy Minister to the President Marina Hadjimanolis, the Presidency of the Cyprus Union of Shipowners has decided to contribute to the aid mission with the donation of €300,000 worth of food supplies.

The food supplies, according to the press release, have already been delivered to the mission at the Port of Larnaca.

"The Cyprus Union of Shipowners fully supports the efforts made by the Cypriot Government, which highlight and enhance the role of the Republic of Cyprus as a pillar of security, cooperation, and solidarity in the wider region" the release reads.
