Low-pressure system moves in as 29°C temperatures give way to hail and afternoon storms

Isolated coastal rain turns into mountain and inland thunderstorms before Friday drops temperatures below average.

Now, you know I love Cyprus, but Mother Nature is out here today acting like she completely lost her mind! A whole low-pressure system came rolling in, looked at everybody's midweek plans, and said, "CANCELLED!"

Today is starting off partly cloudy with a few pop-up showers near the beach, but do not let that fool you! By the afternoon, those clouds are gonna gather up thick, bringing local rain and full-on thunderstorms through the mountains, the inland plains, and up north. And we are talking actual hail! Hail in this heat! On top of that, the wind is picking up from the southwest to northwest at 3 to 4 Beaufort, kicking up to a strong Force 4 or 5 later on with a choppy sea.

Here is how today's thermal situation is laying out:

Inland, southern, and eastern coasts: Hitting around 29°C. It’s warm, but you better keep an umbrella in your backseat.

Western and northern Coasts: Sitting at 28°C.

Highest mountain peaks: Dropping all the way down to a brisk 18°C, so if you get caught in a hail storm up there, you're gonna feel it.

Tonight, the sky keeps playing games with locally increased clouds and the chance of isolated showers sneaking along the beaches. Winds will blow out of the southwest to west at a light to moderate 3 to 4 Beaufort breeze, and the sea stays slightly rough to rough.

Thursday (tomorrow), Friday, and Saturday: It is a whole trilogy of rain, people! Every single day starts out with coastal showers before turning into afternoon cloud cover, local rain, and thunderstorms with hail. And listen to this: Friday's storms are expected to get intense and prolonged! Temperatures are taking a nose-dive through Friday, dropping straight down below the seasonal average before holding steady on Saturday. Wrap it up, stay dry, and do NOT get caught outside on Friday.
