Andreas Mavroyiannis, an independent candidate for president of the republic, has written a letter to Mr. Haris Pogiatzis, head of the independent anti-corruption authority, today calling for an investigation of President Anastasiades relationship with Russian oligarch Dmitry Rybolovlev.
The letter refers to assertions made by journalist Makarios Drousiotis in his book "Mafia State" regarding the relationship between Russian oligarch Rybolovlev and the President of the Republic, as well as actions allegedly taken by the government and state officials to further his personal interests. The author attributes this relationship to the President of the Republic himself as well as to people in his immediate surroundings.
Mr. Andreas Mavroyiannis requests that the Authority launch an investigation into all the claims made in the book regarding the instances of corruption in the public and private sectors that the author mentions.
