Monday forecast: March is stepping in with a sunny smile and a chilly handshake

The clouds are playing ''now you see me, now you don't'' for the rest of the week.

Happy first Monday of March! While the calendar says spring is knocking on the door, the atmosphere is still shaking off the last of a lingering cold air mass. Today, we’re being treated to a "mainly clear" sky, perfect for that March 2nd "new month, new me" energy, though a few locally increased clouds might try to crash the party here and there.

Winds are staying relatively polite, blowing from the northwest to northeast at a manageable 3 to 4 Beaufort. If you're near the water, the sea is keeping it steady at "slight to a little rough." Temperature-wise, we’re seeing a bit of a divide: a crisp 16°C inland, a much more inviting 19°C on the coasts, and a bracing 7°C for those of you up in the higher mountains. It's the kind of day where you’ll be taking your sweater off and putting it back on every twenty minutes.

Tonight stays clear and calm, with the mercury dipping as the northwesterly breeze continues its gentle rounds.

Looking ahead, Tuesday is the real MVP of the week, with temperatures set to climb slightly above the usual seasonal averages. However, don't get too used to the total sunshine; by Wednesday and Thursday afternoon, the mountains are likely to see some isolated showers as those clouds get a bit more restless. For the rest of us, it’s a mostly clear start to the month. Just keep an umbrella on standby if you're heading for a hike.
