If you were planning on a t-shirt day, you might want to reconsider. A cold air mass has officially checked in, and it brought its grumpy cousin, the North Wind, along for the ride. Today is a bit of a mixed bag; we’re looking at patchy clouds that might decide to drop isolated showers on your head, while the higher mountains are getting a light dusting of snow.
Speaking of the wind, it’s coming in from the northwest at a brisk 4 to 5 Beaufort, with some "very strong" gusts hitting 6 Beaufort. It’s the kind of wind that turns your umbrella inside out and makes the sea quite rough. Temperatures are taking a nosedive, reaching only 15°C inland and 16°C on the coast. If you’re in the mountains, it’s a shivering 3°C, and yes, there will be frost.
Tonight won't be much warmer. It’ll stay partly cloudy with those same persistent winds keeping the air crisp. The sea will remain restless, so it’s a perfect night to stay indoors with a hot drink and a thick blanket.
Looking ahead to the weekend, Friday and Saturday are essentially more of the same: occasional clouds, stray showers, and more light snow for the mountain peaks. Sunday, however, wants to be the main event. Around midday, things could get a bit more dramatic with local showers and even a few thunderstorms crashing the party, mainly inland. Temperatures are staying stubborn, remaining well below the usual seasonal averages for the next three days. In short: winter is back for an encore, so keep those heaters humming.
