A Nicosia elderly home owner succumbed to his injuries Thursday morning after falling off the roof of his house while trying to carry out repairs.
According to police, a 77-year-old man climbed on the roof of his house in Agios Dhometios in order to fix damaged tiles around 8:50am.
At one point, while he was carrying out repair work, he fell to the ground and was critically wounded. An ambulance rushed to the scene and transported the man to the Emergency Room at Nicosia General Hospital, while police investigators examined the scene of the accident.
He later passed away at the hopsital.
It was not clear if the man was familiar with carrying out work on the roof or whether he had taken any safety precautions.
