Say goodbye to paper tickets and long queues; Nicosia’s Old GSP parking lot is stepping into the future. Starting Monday, July 7, drivers will experience a brand-new, cashless and user-friendly parking system designed to make city parking quicker, smoother, and more environmentally friendly.
Under the new setup, you simply drive in, no buttons, no paper slips. A camera scans your license plate at the entrance, logs your arrival time, and lifts the bar. When it’s time to leave, drive to the exit and pay by card, that’s it. The barrier lifts within seconds, and a notification is sent straight to your phone with your total charge.
Here’s what it will cost you:
- First 30 minutes – Free
- Up to 1 hour – €2
- Up to 3 hours – €3
- Up to 5 hours – €4
- Up to 7 hours – €5
- Up to 10 hours – €6
- More than 10 hours – €6 plus €1 for each extra hour
For local employees, the city is offering monthly subscriptions at €60, which must be arranged through the proper channels.
The entire system is paperless, cashless, and queue-free, aiming to reduce hassle for drivers and cut down on environmental waste. The city recommends downloading the SensiPark app, which offers even faster, automated payment options.
Officials say the upgrade is part of the city’s broader effort to modernize public services and ease congestion in central Nicosia.
So if you’re parking downtown next week, don’t forget your card, and your license plate.
