Paphos law enforcement officials arrested a police officer Thursday morning, following allegations that he was presenting a fake doctor’s note to go on medical leave multiple times.

According to police, their male colleague from Limassol was assigned to a Paphos precinct where he presented doctor’s notes multiple times, with five of them later appearing to be fake.

Police officers had gone to their colleague’s residence to question him but the suspect was nowhere to be found, according to CNA News Agency.

A warrant for his arrest was issued while headquarters was looking into suspending the officer and possibly opening an internal probe leading to a criminal investigation.

He was later apprehended in the morning.

According to Kathimerini Cyprus, five of a total of eleven doctor’s notes have been described by police as fraudulent, which were used to document the suspect's medical leaves of absence.
