Cyprus police continue to issue citations

Officers across Cyprus continue to spot violators after slight ease of restrictions

Cyprus Police reported 128 people in the last 24 hours for violating restrictive measures designed to stop the spread of the Covid-19 outbreak.

Since March 11, when measures were first implemented, the police have reported a total of 10,627 violations out of 811,624 checks.

In the last 24 hours, from Monday morning at 6am through Tuesday early morning, police officers carried out a total of 14,136 checks throughout the Republic of Cyprus.

Out of 11,902 checks on pedestrians and motorists, police reported 127 violations, while only one violation was reported out of 2234 spot checks in various business establishment and premises across the island.

Broken down by distrcit, 5234 checks were carried out in Nicosia with 27 citations, 2119 in Limassol with 55 violations, 1908 in Larnaca reporting 12 violations, 2337 in Paphos reporting 55 citations, 950 in Famagusta with 16 violations and 836 checks in the Morphou region reporting no violations.

The Road Traffic Department carried out 822 checks reporting 8 violations, while the Police Rapid Response Unit carried out 78 checks with no violations reported.
