Police have seized 83 packages containing substances believed to include tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD) during a raid on a kiosk in Larnaca, authorities said Saturday.

THC is the psychoactive compound in cannabis that produces a high, while CBD is a non-intoxicating substance often marketed for its potential therapeutic effects. Both are derived from the cannabis plant.

According to a statement from the Police Communication Department, officers from the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) conducted the search on Friday as part of ongoing efforts to identify and remove harmful or illegal substances from the market.

The substances were found during a search of the kiosk in the presence of the 41-year-old manager, who was questioned and released pending the results of scientific tests. Authorities said the seized items are classified as Class B controlled drugs under Cypriot law.

The investigation is being handled by YKAN’s Larnaca District Branch.
