President of Cyprus to pay an official visit to Austria

The leaders of the two countries are expected to discuss migration and the Cyprus problem

Migration and the Cyprus issue are among the topics President Nicos Anastasiades is expected to discuss in Vienna, during a two-day official visit he is paying to the country at the invitation of the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen.

According to an announcement by the Presidency of the Republic, Anastasiades will be departing for Vienna on Tuesday afternoon.

On Wednesday, Anastasiades will be officially welcomed by the President of Austria for a private meeting at the Presidential Office, to be followed by expanded talks between the delegations of the two countries.

Anastasiades will also attend an official luncheon hosted in his honour by the Austrian President.

On March 12, President Anastasiades will meet with the Chancellor of Austria, Sebastian Kurz.

During his meetings, Anastasiades will discuss, among other issues, the latest migration developments in the European Union, including the increased migration flows in Cyprus, and Turkey’s policy on the matter and the situation at the Greek borders with Turkey.

President Anastasiades will also brief Austrian leaders on the current situation concerning the Cyprus problem.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman Kyriacos Kousios, and other officials will be accompanying the President to Vienna.
