President Nikos Christodoulides announced plans for a comprehensive upgrade of higher education during an event at the University of Nicosia on Tuesday evening. The strategy, set to be unveiled in May, will involve the collaboration of five ministries.
Speaking at the University's Loft restaurant event themed "Gastronomic Journey, Tastes of Life," President Christodoulides emphasized the importance of maximizing the "tremendous prospects" in higher education. He highlighted the forthcoming strategy's focus on addressing concerns and suggestions raised by universities across the island.
The Ministries of Education, Labor, Interior, Finance, and Foreign Affairs are all engaged in the development of this strategy, with consultations planned with university stakeholders before its official release.
Expressing pride in the University of Nicosia's excellence, President Christodoulides underscored the institution's importance as a national Center of Excellence deserving of support.
Moreover, he commended the Karaiskakio Foundation's work, particularly its efforts in supporting the Children's Cancer Centre. Reflecting on his experiences as Foreign Minister, Christodoulides praised the Foundation's international reputation and its role as a commendable ambassador for Cyprus.
In his closing remarks, President Christodoulides hailed both the Karaiskakio Foundation and the University of Nicosia as exemplary representatives of the country's values and achievements.
