Tension erupts in court during trial for Ypsona double murder

Relative of accused allegedly assaults family member of victims, intensifying atmosphere at Limassol District Court

The trial concerning the double murder that occurred on June 29 outside a bar in Ypsona, claiming the lives of 44-year-old Mario Onisiforou and 51-year-old Michael Michael, continued with heightened tension at the Limassol District Court on Monday morning (19/02). A relative of one of the accused reportedly assaulted a family member of the victims.

Details reveal that the brother of one of the accused filed a formal complaint, alleging that a relative of the victims physically attacked him with fists within the courtroom premises. Authorities are actively investigating the reported incident.

Recalling the tragic events, the double murder unfolded in the early hours of Thursday, June 29, when the two accused allegedly attacked a 43-year-old friend of the victims outside the bar. Attempting to aid their friend, both Onisiforou and Michael sustained knife injuries, leading to Onisiforu's immediate demise, while Michael succumbed to his injuries at midnight the following day.
