A court has ordered the return of the skeletal remains and forensic slides of Thanasis Nikolaou to his family, concluding a tense legal procedure on Tuesday.
The decision came shortly after 1 p.m., despite a request for postponement from the lawyer representing forensic examiner Panicos Stavrianou. The lawyer argued that her client intended to seek the reopening of the death investigation.
However, the judge proceeded to issue a decree mandating that Nikolaou’s remains and 350 forensic slides, including those containing the hyoid bone, be returned within seven days. The court ruled that the death investigator no longer holds any authority over the materials.
