Cyprus can expect a mix of sunshine, cloud and possible thunderstorms on Friday, with temperatures climbing as high as 37°C inland.
Seasonal low pressure is currently affecting the island, according to the latest weather forecast. The day will begin with largely clear skies before cloud cover increases gradually.
Isolated showers and thunderstorms are forecast during the afternoon, particularly over mountainous and inland areas. Some storms could also bring hail.
Winds will initially be variable before turning southwesterly to northwesterly later in the day, reaching light to moderate speeds of 3 to 4 Beaufort. Coastal waters are expected to be calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures are forecast to reach 37°C inland, 31°C on the west coast and approximately 33°C in other coastal areas. The highest mountain areas are expected to see a maximum of 26°C.
Conditions will become mostly clear overnight, although some increased cloud cover may develop locally along the coast. Downslope winds are expected at around 3 Beaufort, while the sea will remain calm to slightly rough.
Similar conditions are forecast for Saturday, with clouds developing after midday and potentially bringing isolated showers or thunderstorms to mountainous and inland districts. Hail remains possible during thunderstorms.
Sunday and Monday are expected to be mainly clear. Temperatures will dip slightly on Saturday before beginning a gradual increase, reaching above-normal levels for the time of year by Monday.
