If yesterday marked the unofficial start of freddo season, today looks set to reinforce the trend.
A weak low-pressure system continues to linger over the region, though it is doing little to disrupt what is shaping up to be a largely sunny and increasingly warm week across Cyprus.
Today's weather will be mostly clear, with only some locally increased cloud expected to develop over the mountains during the early afternoon. Winds will start out light and variable before settling into a southwesterly to northwesterly breeze, while the sea remains calm to slightly rough.
Temperatures will climb to around 35°C inland, 31°C along most coastal areas, 29°C on the west coast and 26°C in the higher mountains.
Tonight will remain mostly clear, with comfortable overnight temperatures falling to around 18°C inland and along the north coast, 20°C elsewhere on the coast and 16°C in the mountains.
The forecast for Wednesday and Thursday is refreshingly uncomplicated: plenty of sunshine and a gradual rise in temperatures.
By Friday, however, the atmosphere may remember it has a job to do. Developing cloud over the mountains and inland areas could trigger isolated showers or even a thunderstorm during the afternoon.
Temperatures are expected to rise slightly through Thursday before easing back a little on Friday, remaining close to or just above the seasonal average, making it warm enough to complain, but not yet warm enough to win any arguments with people who survived last summer.
