Now, you know y'all were praying for a calm week, but Mother Nature looked at the calendar, saw an unstable air mass hanging around until Wednesday, and said, "Not on my watch!"
This morning starts out looking harmless with mostly clear skies with just a few light clouds floating around the west and north that might drop a quick coastal shower. But come afternoon, those clouds are gonna gather up like a crowd at a block party, bringing local rain and pop-up thunderstorms through the mountains, the inland plains, and sneaking over into the southeast. On top of that, winds start out light at 3 Beaufort before picking up to 3 to 4 Beaufort, hitting a strong Force 4 or 5 along exposed beaches with a slightly rough sea.
Here is how today's thermal situation is laying out across the island:
Inland plains and all coasts: Leveling out at 27°C. Comfortable, but keep your eyes on the sky if you're stepping out after lunch.
Higher mountain peaks: Dropping down to a crisp 17°C, so if a thunderstorm catches you up on Troodos, you're gonna feel that chill real quick.
Tonight, the weather finally decides to behave itself and turns mainly clear, though western and northern coastal areas might still see a few stray clouds drifting by. Winds will calm down into light 3 Beaufort downslope breezes, and the sea settles down to a smooth calm or slightly rough chop.
Wednesday (tomorrow): The morning opens up nice and bright, but don't put that umbrella away just yet! Clouds build up again after midday, bringing one last round of isolated showers or a brief thunderstorm to the mountains and inland areas.
Thursday and Friday: The worst of it finally packs up and leaves. Expect mainly clear skies, with just a few harmless afternoon clouds popping up over the hills to keep things looking natural. The mercury is gonna take a slow, steady step up through Friday, though temperatures will still linger slightly below the normal seasonal average.
Stay dry, keep your head up, and have a smooth week!
