According to police, the suspect was detained on Wednesday evening on an arrest warrant in connection with rape-related charges.

The suspect, described as a Greek Cypriot male from Episkopi, has been accused by his ex-girlfriend that he kidnapped and raped her on April 24 in Paphos. While police were looking for him, the woman reportedly accused the suspect in a new complaint that he raped her again between 6 and 10 May, according to police.

On Thursday, the Cyprus News Agency (CNA) said an arrest warrant was officially issued on May 10 for the suspect's arrest.

According to Kathimerini Cyprus, police are handling the case with discretion as possible domestic violence is also being investigated.
