Celebrations marking the 66th anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus' independence will feature an expanded program, with the large military parade in Nicosia as the main event. This year's celebrations will feature a strong Air Force presence, with all available assets taking part. The Hellenic Air Force contingent stationed in Cyprus will also have a special presence during the Independence Day celebrations.
According to information obtained by "K," the plans also include the participation of F-16 fighter jets. Unless there are changes in the coming days, the aircraft are expected to conduct flyovers over the military parade area in honor of Independence Day. What we will see
As "K" has reported, an Egyptian Air Force aircraft used for anti-submarine warfare will also take part in the celebrations. The aircraft is already in Cyprus and conducted test flights over Nicosia in recent days. It remains unclear whether the Hellenic Navy frigate currently in Limassol will also participate in the celebrations.
During the rest of the military parade, the General Staff of the National Guard is expected to showcase some of the National Guard's latest acquisitions, with air defense systems expected to be among the main attractions.
Low flyovers over Nicosia
The General Staff of the National Guard has informed the public that low flyovers by aircraft will take place over Nicosia at around 11 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, as part of preparations for the military parade marking the 66th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence of the Republic of Cyprus on October 1.
The flyovers are part of the scheduled preparations for the parade, and there is no reason for the public to be concerned.
