Bookings for Cyprus countryside accommodation rise during Easter holidays

Deputy Ministry of Tourism reports 70-80% capacity, with prices remaining largely the same as last year

According to official data released by the Deputy Ministry of Tourism, bookings for countryside accommodation in Cyprus increased during the Easter holiday season. Despite prices remaining largely the same as the previous year, capacity in agricultural accommodation has reached 70%-80%.

The Deputy Ministry notes that prices for agrotourism accommodation options are mostly the same as last year, and in some cases, they are even lower than prices during the summer and winter holiday seasons. They also pointed out that there are agrotourism accommodation options available for any budget, starting from 60 euros for two people per night.

The Easter holiday season typically sees Cypriot bookings for 3-4 days, with the Troodos mountains being the most popular destination. However, bookings by visitors from abroad appear to be the same as the usual average. Tourists from abroad tend to book agrotourism accommodation for 3-7 days and choose to book different accommodations in 2 or 3 districts to explore the island.

The increase in bookings for countryside accommodation during the Easter holiday season is a positive sign for the tourism industry in Cyprus, which has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that this trend will continue throughout the year and provide a much-needed boost to the tourism sector.

Overall, the Deputy Ministry of Tourism is optimistic about the future of the industry, stating that Cyprus has a lot to offer tourists and that the government is committed to supporting and promoting the tourism sector in the country.
