Cypriots seem to have resumed their travels vigorously, with many of our fellow citizens opting for long getaways for the Easter holidays. Speaking to K, Acta's spokesman, Harris Papacharalambous, said that demand is at pre-coronavirus levels for both inbound and outbound travel.
The top trend at the moment, in terms of outbound travel, is Greece, with Papacharalambous attributing this to the fact that travel is associated with the religious holiday, which is not celebrated in the same way in other foreign countries. High on the list of preferences are, among others, the Greek islands, the Peloponnese, Halkidiki, and Central Greece. Most Cypriots choose to travel during Holy Week, mainly from Holy Tuesday and Holy Wednesday to Easter Tuesday. The top trend during this period is Greece, with Papacharalambous attributing this to the fact that travel is associated with the religious holiday.
In terms of European destinations, Cypriots prefer Great Britain, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, and Poland. However, according to a previous K report, most Cypriots choosing holidays this season have already pre-purchased holiday packages at fixed prices. However, those who choose to go abroad for Easter and book now are bound to find higher prices.Among others, the Greek islands, Peloponnese, Halkidiki and Central Greece are high on the list of preferences.
