Saudi Arabia's Sindalah Island opens as year-round superyacht paradise

Luxury resorts, beach clubs, and a 5,000-berth marina make the new Neom island a bold step in Saudi Arabia’s tourism vision

Tucked in the Red Sea, the new luxury island of Sindalah has officially opened, bringing high-end resorts, a yacht club, and a marina to Saudi Arabia's coastline. The seahorse-shaped island, a key part of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s $1.5 trillion Neom project, welcomed visitors on October 25, and yachts have been lining up ever since.

Sindalah has been designed to turn heads: with three luxury hotels, 38 restaurants, a private golf course, and a sprawling 5,000-berth marina, it’s setting itself up as a haven for year-round superyacht tourism. Already, over 50 yachts are docked near the island, up from only one last year at this time. As part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, the Crown Prince envisions Sindalah as the world’s first yachting paradise, built from the ground up.

The island’s offerings go beyond standard luxury. It includes a marina surrounded by high-end retail shops, exclusive beach clubs, and a yacht club created by Italian designer Stefano Ricci—his first-ever venture into yacht club interiors. In a celebratory launch event, influencers and financiers from around the globe got a first taste of what the island has to offer, including performances by international DJs and a beach club designed by Saudi entertainment group MDLBeast, known for its star-studded events.

Sindalah’s hotels include the prestigious Four Seasons and Marriott’s Luxury Collection, with each space built to impress with contemporary design and unmatched views of the sea. For those arriving by yacht, the marina offers 86 piers and space for thousands of vessels, setting Sindalah apart from other luxury destinations in the region.

With plans for a ski resort, a futuristic linear city called The Line, and even a stadium designed for the Asian Winter Games, Neom aims to change the face of Saudi tourism. Sindalah, as the first completed project, is intended as a showcase of this vision and a test of Saudi Arabia’s potential as a luxury destination.

The Crown Prince has big plans, and Sindalah is just the first chapter. By making the island a magnet for the global yachting community, he’s betting that it will help transform Saudi Arabia into a top-tier destination in luxury tourism. With yachts already crowding the docks and the Red Sea’s stunning backdrop, it seems Sindalah’s debut is making waves in more ways than one.
