After weeks of rainfall, nature is putting on a quiet but striking show in Kakopetria, with fresh winter colors and flowing water turning heads across social media in recent days.
One of the places drawing the most attention is the Vateris nature trail, a long-time favorite for walkers and nature lovers. The trail runs alongside a tributary of the Karyotis River and winds through dense greenery, where plane trees and oaks frame a landscape that feels newly awakened.
Wooden bridges cross the river at several points, connecting the path to other trails and leading into parts of Kakopetria’s old village. Benches placed along the way invite visitors to slow down, take in the view, and listen to the sounds of birds mixing with the gentle rush of water, a rare treat after a long dry spell.
The return of running water has breathed new life into the Solea Valley, transforming the area into a peaceful winter escape and reminding many why Kakopetria remains one of Cyprus’ most beloved mountain villages.
A video shared by Το Νησί / On the Island captures the trail at its best, showcasing scenes that have quickly spread online and inspired many to lace up their walking shoes and head for the hills.
